As part of their "Forensic Psychology" course, our 3rd and 4th-year students from the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling visited the Child Protection Center (Çocuk İzlem Merkezi) at the T.R. Ministry of Health Istanbul Bakırköy Prof. Dr. Mazhar Osman Training and Research Hospital for Psychiatric and Neurological Diseases.
Led by Assist. Prof. Sevil Momeni Shabani, one of the academicians of the Department of Educational Sciences, a workshop titled “Synectics and Forced Association: Developing Creativity in Children” was organized for our alumni students on Thursday, April 10 at 16.00.
The orientation event for the first-year students of the Program of Guidance and Psychological Counseling was held on Monday, September 23 at 14.00 in the classroom numbered Z-05 on the Küçükçekmece campus.
A seminar titled "Challenging Difficult Conditions: Psychological Resilience" was organized by the Program of Guidance and Psychological Counselling on Wednesday, December 13, at the Küçükçekmece campus conference hall. At the event where Gazi University faculty member Prof. Dr. Şerife Işık was the speaker, topics such as the determinants of psychological resilience, risk factors and protective factors were touched upon.
A seminar titled "Sources of Psychological Well-Being", where Prof. Dr. Tayfun Doğan was the speaker, was held by the Program of Guidance and Psychological Counselling, on Wednesday, November 29, at the Küçükçekmece campus seminar hall.
Assist. Prof. Sevil Momeni Shabani, one of the academicians of the Department of Educational Sciences, presented her paper titled "Self Determination and Subjective Well-Being: A Scoping Review" at the "8th International Self-Determination Theory Conference" held in the USA between May 31 and June 3, 2023.
Within the scope of the cooperation between the Department of Educational Sciences and Demirören Media Group; Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Alim Kaya and Deputy Dean Assist. Prof. Meryem Demir Güdül came together with media professionals working in the disaster area. At the meeting held on May 2, 2023, media professionals shared their experiences in the earthquake zone. Necessary psychosocial support needs were determined and the activities to be carried out for these needs were planned.
Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program organized the "Alumni Panel" event on Tuesday, May 30. In the panel, held on the CATS platform, our alumni shared their experiences about being a school counselor, academic career processes, working in a counseling center, being a psychological counselor in a social service center and working in the field of neuroscience with our students.
Students of the Program of Guidance and Psychological Counseling made their presentation “Choosing a Profession in Career Planning” on November 30, 2022, for the tenth grade students at Kültür College, which is a practice school within the scope of the “RPD 7010 - RPD Practices in Schools I” course. The participants took great interest in the event where professions were introduced within the framework of career planning and field selection.
The orientation program for the first year students of the Istanbul Kültür University Department of Educational Sciences was held at Basın Ekspres campus on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. The students showed great interest in the event which was attended by all faculty members of the department. In the event, Information was given about academic counseling, how to register to classes, the opportunities with regards to double major and doing a minor in programs , and academic and social activities at our university.
