Suzan Oktay Erol from the Family and Community Services Branch of the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, who was a guest of our university within the scope of the "Institution Experience" course given in the Department of Educational Sciences, held a seminar titled "Social Work & Guidance and Psychological Counseling".
Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Education Faculty Guidance and Psychological Counseling Program was accredited for 3 years by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs (EPDAD).
Department of Educational Sciences organized an event where Psychological Counselor & Psychologist Assist. Prof. Ayhan Erbay shared his knowledge and experience. Within the scope of the event held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, the subjects of being a psychological counselor at the Ministry of Justice and postgraduate education in forensic psychology were conveyed to the students.
A conference titled "Forensic Psychology Practices in Our Country: Courthouses and Prisons" was held at the Basın Ekspres Campus Seminar Hall on Friday, November 26, in cooperation with the IKU PDR Club and Department of Educational Sciences. Psychologist Yasemin Mısırlı Altınbalık and Psychological Counselor & Pedagogue Büşra Kazan Yüksel attended the conference, which was coordinated by Specialist Doctor Nedim Havle. In the event, students and academic staff were informed about forensic psychology applications.
Within the scope of the "RPD Practice in Schools 1" course, a meeting was held with the psychological counselors in the practice schools on Friday, November 12 at 16.30 in the 3rd floor multi-purpose seminar hall of Ataköy campus by the Department of Educational Sciences. With the meeting held under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Alim Kaya and Assist. Prof. Meryem Demir Güdül, information was shared to increase university-school cooperation.

Darüşşafaka Society Corporate Communication Unit Specialist Bahar Paykoç, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Feyza Doyran made a presentation about “Equal Opportunities in Education” to raise awareness.
The role of school counselor candidates in community service practices was discussed.
The event titled “Disability Is No Barrier to Success” was held in cooperation with the İKÜ PCG Club and the İKÜ Department of Educational Sciences. A Six Points Association of the Blind representative, Association of the Visually Handicapped athletes, Türkan Saylan Sabancı Visually Handicapped School psychological counselor and Nefus Nakipoğlu Special Education Application Center students, teachers and parents met with the students of our University. The disabled individuals shared their experiences and achievements and gave the message that we can overcome obstacles together.
The seminar titled “A Professional Love: Being an Effective Teacher” was organized by the Department of Educational Sciences on March 1, 2018 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.
Psychological Counselor Mehmet Osman Çetiner, who attended the event as a speaker, shared his experiences as a school counselor in the Varto district and the Aydoğdu Neighborhood of Tekirdağ.
The seminar was beneficial and informative thanks to Çetiner's approach to different cultures and his stories about children at risk.
